Serious Memes

If you can look a person in the eye and deliver your message it comes through more powerfully, more authentically. If you combine a strong photograph with a strong statement you can create what amounts to a meme. That’s what these ODE-lites are, serious memes. They are your words. Or the words of your founder. Messages have more impact when they are read.

Memes exist because we have something to say. We want to be heard. We see a thought or an idea that matches our state of mind and we feel the need to share it. Often they are funny. But we have more to say than that. We have messages, feelings, and opinions that we wish to convey.

But there are no words more powerful, or convincing, than your own. I want to know what you have to say. I will listen. And, if you let me, I will take your photograph and combine it with your words to create a statement that others will listen to as well.

We do not live in a disconnected world. We live in a world that is more connected than ever before. What we lack is sincerity, and conviction, and authenticity. We lack that kind of connection that comes from standing in front of someone and listening, truly listening. To create such a feeling as this requires an intermediary, an interpreter, a person who will capture the sentiment of your message with an image that endures.

People can hide behind social media or they can use it to be seen. To be heard. To be known. Knowing one another is the first step toward dissolving the factions that divide us.
