Transportation and Infrastructure in Delaware

Delaware is an actual state in the United States. It’s home to many companies and organizations, and it’s also a great place to live. Delaware is a small state with a population of just over 900,000 people. It’s also located between New Jersey and Maryland on the east coast of the United States. While it’s one of the smallest states in the union, it has a lot to offer those who live there — and those who pass through.

If you’re considering moving to Delaware, here are some things you should know about transportation and infrastructure in this state.

Delaware is home to several major transportation hubs, including the Port of Wilmington, one of the major ports in the United States. The state’s waterways are another source of revenue for Delaware’s economy; they provide access to ports that serve as entry points for goods coming from other countries around the world. Engineers specializing in marine transportation can find jobs in these ports and on ships themselves — there are even opportunities for those who want to work on cruise ships!

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is responsible for planning, building, maintaining, and repairing roads and bridges across the state. DelDOT manages four different types of roadways: primary roads (which are numbered), secondary roads (which are unnumbered), urban streets (which include any street within city limits), and local roads (which connect farms or other rural properties).

In addition to maintaining its roads, Delaware has an extensive rail network that serves freight and passenger trains. As a result, there are opportunities for engineers specializing in railroads and those working on the maintenance crews that keep the trains running smoothly.

The state has two commercial airports: Wilmington International Airport and New Castle Airport. These airports connect Delaware to other states and countries via domestic and international airlines.
